This is the testing of electrical appliances for safety purposes.
In affect a test and tag machine is use to push up to 500 volts through the appliance
to ensure that there is no earth leakage, open or loose wires.
If a fault is present in the appliance then a fail result will appear on the machine with the reason.
Every electrical appliance has a different class code such as class 1 or class 2.
A class one product has an earth wire attached. A product might be a microwave or a compressor.
Where as a class 2 product does not have an earth wire. A product might be a circular saw or battery charger.
To identify the product difference the class 2 item will have a symble of a square inside a square such as this picture.
For more information on what test and tag is feel free to contact one of our friendly staff.

When should we have test and tagging done? This is a common question of Wired Safe.
As a general rule we say it should be done annually (every 12 months) for a business. An example of items that might fit under this catagory could be toaster microwave, computer, fax, printer, photocopier or even a laptop.
The exception to the rule is if you are in a trade and therefore you may need to have it done every 3 months to comply with state regulations. An example of items that might fit under this category might be a drill, circular saw, radio or a battery chargers.
Their are some more exceptions to the rule and I will have more information on this site soon.
However in the mean time if you are not sure if your equipment is in need feel free to contact us for more information.
